I find the creation of portraits fascinating, particularly the sense of connection felt to each piece. My process consists of many layers of paint, creating an increased definition in the work while symbolizing the depth and complexity of each subject.

I am sharing a commission portrait that I am humbled and honored to have made.
Kennedy Bowles was a high school senior and aspiring model. She was full of life and joy. Tragically, her life ended in a car accident in early April of this year. Prior to her death, Kennedy decided to be registered as an organ donor, and has since aided in the recovery of eight others in need.
As an artist, I develop a special connection to my work. It was necessary to demonstrate love and happiness in this piece. I was told that Kennedy loved the ocean. With that, I decided to visit the beach before I started this painting. I said a prayer for her, praying she was at peace and for her family and friends. I wanted a part of the beach to be with her in this painting. I decided to collect sand that afternoon. The sand that I collected is incorporated into this painting, scattered in the textured sections of this painting.
